Steve Swayze is a man who has worn many hats…..all of them in Radio. Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Steve is a distinguished member of a very tiny minority, those lucky enough to have fallen in love with the power of radio from a young age and who have managed to make an entire career of it!

He began his radio career as a Disc Jockey in Carlsbad at the very young age of 14…..imagine the lively banter and chit-chat from one so youthful and limited in life experience, though actually Steve’s remarkable wit and dry humor probably served him well even back then!

Over the years Steve has worked in radio markets as diverse as Florida, Mississippi and Texas. He also became Owner and General Manager of stations in Carlsbad for nearly a decade.

The call of Ruidoso’s beautiful environment won over his heart and he relocated here 8 years ago. He began as General Manager of KWES & KBUY and grew the stations influence in the region for nearly 7 years.

Steve is Afternoon DJ on KBUY-am from 2pm to 6pm and also the all-important Production Director and troubleshooter…when anything goes wrong technically, everyone holds their breath till Steve arrives and handles the problem with ease and incredible composure!
