EEO OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

January 1, 2014 through August 1, 2014

During the period, Walton StationsNew Mexico, Inc.  (“Walton”) created two, full-time positions.   The first announcer position on January 13, 2014 was not filled as a result of recruitment.  The morning man quit, without notice, and the station had to find a fast replacement in this exigent circumstance.  The second announcer position was filled as a result of recruiting. On-Air advertising and radio advertising were utilized.   In ordinary situations, Walton advertises its job openings on the air over its broadcast stations and in the newspaper.

Walton has set up a comprehensive outreach and recruitment program designed to widely disseminate information regarding full-time job opportunities at its stations.

Every six months, Walton airs a Public Notice Press Release inviting community groups, minority organizations and interested civic organizations to notify station management if their group would like to be notified regarding each new, full-time job opening.  Walton, every six months, also sends the same press release to local groups as part of the licensee’s recruitment efforts.  The licensee plans to continue its advertising efforts with the hope that more local groups might soon be interested in receiving such information.

Summary Description of Supplemental Outreach Initiatives

The licensee has selected the following menu options:

1.         Participate in other activities than the ones listed that the licensee has designed to further the goal of disseminating information about employment opportunities.

3.         Provide training to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination.

On April 3, 2014, the unit hosted an open house event at its stations inviting the community at large to visit and discuss career opportunities in radio. Two people attended this function and met with the general manager, the sales manager and various other staff members.  The event was supported with radio advertising.

During this period, Gary Heron, the station manager, Juanita Jones, the sales manager, Jessica Cadena, the program director studied the book, EEO Law and Personnel by Arthur Gutman in an effort to ensure equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination. This period, the managers reviewed Chapters One and Two – An Introduction to EEO Law and Major Title VII Judicial Scenarios.
